Gränges Americas achieves dual ASI certifications and drives responsible practices in the US aluminium market

19 Dec 2022 | GROUP RELEASE

Gränges Americas Inc. has successfully achieved dual certification against the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative’s (ASI) Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Standard, covering three production facilities as well as the corporate office in the US. This was announced by ASI today.

ASI is a global, multi-stakeholder, non-profit standards setting and certification organisation which works to maximise the contribution of aluminium to a sustainable society. As of today, Gränges has certified all its production facilities in the US, Sweden and China.

“Achieving ASI certification has been a key strategic focus for us to become a sustainability leader within the aluminium industry. The certification strengthens our competitive position within the markets we serve and underpins our drive towards improving sustainability throughout the value chain,” says Patrick Lawlor, President, Gränges Americas.

The ASI Performance Standard defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. The ASI Chain of Custody Standard defines a set of requirements for the creation of a responsible supply chain for aluminium. The Chain of Custody certification assures that Gränges’ products are responsibly sourced and produced across the entire supply chain, from extraction of raw materials to the finished product.

The independent, third-party audit of Gränges Americas was carried out by DNV GL.
