The aluminium potential

With its light weight, infinite recyclability, durability, and strength, aluminium contributes significantly to the sustainability of a variety of products. It is for example used in making lightweight components for vehicles, energy-efficient buildings, and recyclable packaging. Through its inherent sustainable qualities, energy and emission savings can be achieved both operationally and in product use.

At the same time, the production of aluminium is highly energy intensive. The aluminium industry accounts for about two percent of the world’s direct industrial carbon emissions. While overall demand for aluminium is expected to grow by almost 40 percent by 2030 1, increased demand for low-carbon aluminium solutions highlights the importance of aluminium in mitigating climate impact.
