My first job as an Engineer

When I first encountered Gränges, I could never have imagined that it would lead me to a job as a process development engineer at the company today.

It all started when I was a student. I stopped by Gränges Booth at the Armada, an annual career fair at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). There I met one of the engineers, that later would become my supervisor for my master thesis, and that was the beginning of the journey.

To get the opportunity to do my thesis at a company like Gränges is an amazing experience, both to get to know the people, the processes in general and to deep dive into a specific subject within a broader project. But most of all to be part of a team, working on a matter that is real. My thesis focused on improving the surface of the milling process that prepares ingots for rolling and above all to improve the durability of the cutting edges for the process.

My supervisor was both competent and very supportive. What I especially appreciated was that he took the time to give me a greater understanding and an overall picture of production, as well as a great deal of freedom to look deeper into relevant parameters. It sparked an interest and broadened my perspective.
I still learn new things every day, still looking forward to deepening my knowledge in my field of work. The curiosity and the inclusiveness I felt among the employees as a Grad student I still feel everyday among my colleagues and that makes Gränges a great workplace.
