Electrical equipment fire in Gränges’ facility in Shandong
A fire in Gränges’ production facility in Shandong has caused damage to the electrical installation of the hot-rolling mill. No one was injured and other production equipment was unaffected.
On May 24, 2026, a fire occurred during maintenance work at Gränges’ production facility in Shandong, China. The fire resulted in damage to an electrical installation connected to the hot-rolling mill. No one was injured. No rolling mills sustained structural damage. However, production in the Shandong facility will be significantly reduced until the damaged electrical system has been reinstalled and commissioned.
The incident is expected to affect Gränges Asia’s sales volume and operating profit in the second half of 2026 negatively. The Shandong facility is insured against property damage and business interruption. Consequently, the impact on net profit is expected to be limited.
Further information will be provided in conjunction with the interim report for the second quarter 2026.
